Women's RECREATION Hockey Skill Levels

High Division:
These players enjoy good intense games without the win-at-all cost mentality. Most players have played for many years and are very good skaters with effective stick handling and shooting skills. They understand that coaching can add to their enjoyment and ability to understand how to play a smarter team game. This recreational player wants friendly competition, where she can compete to win and have fun. She’s a good recreational hockey player and can be of any age. Players who fit the High Division criteria can enter as a team, group, or individual. We will try to keep a team together but we can enforce the New Balancing Act.

Note: Players currently at the Senior Women’s ‘A’ level or players who are just fresh out of university hockey are at a higher level than this one and is the Elite level. If the league determines your skill level is significantly higher than the rest of the league then unfortunately that player will not be allowed to register. Call the office at 416.410.8993 to discuss as we want to make sure you are at the correct level.

Intermediate Division:
Players at this level are competent skaters who have either aged gracefully and lost some of their skills and speed, taken a hiatus from hockey, or may be previous ringette players or figure skaters. This player has a general or better knowledge of the game, but needs to improve on skills such as puck handling, shooting, and positional hockey play. These players are of all ages, eager to be coached and have fun, in a friendly-respectful, competitive way. Players who fit the Intermediate Division criteria can enter as a team, group, or individual. We will try to keep a team together but we can enforce the New Balancing Act.

Beginner:
These players are slower skaters even after many years of practising. They need to work on all areas of their game such as their skating, puck handling and shooting skills if they want to become an Intermediate Division player. Players in this level have fun and get a good work-out in a safer, non-competitive environment and should start with skills and shinny before entering to play in a league.

Team Entries
If you are entering as a team, then all your players must be at or below the level of competition you are entering. For example, if your team is entering the Intermediate Division level then all your players must be intermediate or almost at the intermediate level. If you have a High Division level player on your team then your team must play in the High Division. We will try to keep a team together but we can enforce the New Balancing Act.

Still unsure of your skill level?
Call the office at 416.410.8993 to discuss as we want to make sure you are at the correct level.
