Dry Pad Skills


Dry Pad Skills are at Leaside Arena

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Located at Leaside arena on rink B, the dry pad will be used as a shooting ground to improve your shot in a safe environment. There will be several stations to keep you occupied and engaged to improve stick handling skills like the McDavid station, the Dangle station, and the Rebound station. Check out the stations.

STATIONS
1. Target shooting station: Shooting can be boring...I've been there when I was shooting about 500 shots a day. So what do we do...there will be fun games to play, targets to hit, targets to knock down, and games to play with a buddy to help rid the boredom of shooting the puck. A shooting buddy and a goal sheet (tracking the # of shots) are great ways to keep focused and coming back. Also adding a reward (DQ treat or something) to the first one to get to 1000 shots. Make it fun.

2. Private lesson station: available for private 1on1 time to step up your game a little quicker. $10/15mins

3. McDavid station: Train like Connor McDavid. Speed ladder training plus stick handling at the same time. There will be progressive steps to improve your quick feet and then add the hockey stick and puck for quick hands. Hey...you want to step up your game...this is one station you must work to help your game.

4. Dangle station: Dangle like the "Best" and see your game go to new heights. Specialized equipment and progressive exercises to grow your confidence with the puck. Forehand toe drag, backhand toe drag, one hand, behind the back, quick hands, and much more to feel the puck on your stick.

5. Rebound station: Receive the puck confidently and with soft hands but how do you develop those soft hands....it's at the Rebound station. Our equipment is the latest in hockey skill development and this station will allow you to pass accurately, hard and receive the puck with confidence.

6. The "Rock" station: Yes....like the "Rock", you need strength to be better with the puck. Now I'm uncertain if the "Rock" can skate but our fun and new ways of increasing strength will eventually make your passing and shooting the puck harder than before.

All equipment is supplied so you just need to bring your helmet, gloves and hockey sticks. Be ready to step up your game this summer.


Instruction will be offered for a small fee: One of our senior instructors will be there if you would like 1on1 instruction time with your stick handling or how to improve your shot.

Rules: To be allowed on the DRY PAD, you must have a membership. All coaches, parents, scouts and friends who would like to enter and be on the dry pad must have a membership, no exceptions. No Membership...No Entry.


Full Membership Fee is 80.00 + HST
Your membership allows you to attend any day, any time listed on the schedule.
Recommended for boys, girls and adults of all ages and skill levels who want to improve their shot and puck skills.




 
Get Fit with Hockey



This fun course, Get Fit with Hockey, will cover the full package of hockey while having fun and keeping fit. The Fall & Winter sessions will cover power skating, puck skills & shooting, positioning and battles, and a fun game. Our focus for skating will be on developing a better understanding using your edges and increasing your confidence and speed. You will learn how to strengthen puck-handling skills and improve your shots.

In addition, the program will progress to different breakout and transition strategies used in a hockey game. This program includes a fun game for a complete developmental experience reviewing exercises learned throughout the sessions. We promote "Fair and Safe Play" during our drills and hockey games.

Recommended for Men and Women who are Beginner & Intermediate Rec players.

Shooting & Puck Skills

Description: This Co-Ed program is about developing a better shot. You will learn the proper techniques to improve power, accuracy, and control of the wrist shot, snap shot, slap shot, flip shot, and backhand shot. Plus the player will learn how to increase their puck skills to deke, stick handle and control the puck with confidence. Overall, this fun program develops the areas of a sniper. Recommended for All Skill Levels who are Rec players.


Power Skating Skills


7-8pm: Power Skating

Description: In this Co-Ed program your will become a more confident, stronger, and faster skater. You will learn properly how to skate using your edges to stop, skate forwards and backwards, add power turns and pivots, followed by forwards and backwards cross-overs. In addition, how the hockey stick plays a big part in your balance and skating speed. Drills will be broken down into simpler parts so you will understand where your corrections are needed to improve. Recommended for All Skill Levels who are Rec players.




 
Hockey Skills & Tactics, Low Rec


This creative course is an active skating, passing, and shooting program. This program is similar to the High Rec program but at the Low Rec level. Our focus for skating will be on developing a better understanding using your edges and increasing your speed and acceleration. You will learn how to strengthen puck-handling skills to carry the puck with confidence and improve your power, accuracy, and control of your shots.

In addition, the program will progress to different breakout and transition strategies used in a hockey game. This program includes a controlled scrimmage for a complete developmental experience reviewing exercises learned that session. We promote "Fair and Safe Play" during our drills and hockey games.

Recommended for Beginner & Intermediate Rec players. Co-ed, the ratio of men to women will be approximately 5:1.

I've created the 3 team format for the summer 2018 Thursday group.
The 3 teams, A-B-C, will rotate on a schedule. So week 1, team A practices 8-9pm with their team only.
Teams will receive more specialized instruction with your team only practice. Plus this will allow you to enjoy the summer with your friends on the early nights. Teams B & C will have skills 9-10pm and then their game 10-11pm. Join today before it sells out.

Hockey Skills & Tactics, High Rec


This dynamic course is an active skating, passing, and shooting program. If you want to become an effective tactical player to improve your hockey strategies and understanding of the game then this is for you!

Our focus will be to teach the different breakout and transition strategies used in a hockey game. Learn how to correctly time your skating to stretch the ice and support the puck carrier. Players will learn when to skate to the opening, give and receive passes with confidence, and how to play intelligent hockey.

In addition, you will learn individual tactics that will be applied immediately to game situations such as puck protection, shooting, passing, deking, and skating. This program includes a controlled scrimmage for a complete developmental experience reviewing exercises learned that session. We promote "Fair and Safe Play" during our drills and hockey games.

Recommended for Intermediate & High Rec players. Co-ed, the ratio of men to women will be approximately 5:1.

Hockey Skills & Tactics, enhance your goalie skills with a 1 hour skill session and 1 hour hockey game.
Upon request we would be able to arrange for a goalie instructor to attend on a schedule that works for you to help step up your game. Extra fee involved for the goalie instructor.

Total Immersion Program


An entire day focused on improving your game. You will hit the ice and focus on face-off alignments and what to do when you win/lose the draw. Where to be positioned for d-zone coverage that lead to breakouts and how to attack to score goals and forecheck your opponent effectively. Inaddition, there will be time spent on individual puck skills and how to shoot the puck harder. Our drills are broken down into simple parts and then progressed so you can fully understand everything.

It does not stop there....you will also have a hockey game and be coached on everything you learned or need to know on how to play the game smarter. In conclusion....there will be a special guest speaker, Dr.Naomi Kupferstein, to help you step up your game with pre-game warm up, stretching, and post game exercises. This amazing program comes once a year...plan to attend!

The program includes 3 hours on ice and is designed so you will be able to endure and have fun the entire time with us.

Men's RECREATION Hockey Skill Levels


High Rec:
These players enjoy good intense games without the win-at-all cost mentality. Most players have played for many years and are very good skaters with effective stick handling and shooting skills. They understand that coaching can add to their enjoyment and ability to understand how to play a smarter team game. This recreational player wants friendly competition, where he can compete and have fun. He’s a good recreational hockey player and can be of any age.

Intermediate Rec:
Players at this level are competent skaters who have either aged gracefully and lost some of their skills and speed, taken a hiatus from hockey, or may be playing just once a week and is looking to step up their game in a good safe atmosphere. This player has a general or better knowledge of the game, but needs to improve on skills such as puck handling, shooting, and positional hockey play. These players are of all ages, eager to be coached and have fun, in a friendly-respectful, competitive way.

Low Rec:
These players can get around the rink but still need lots of work on skating and puck skills. They also play hockey with their friends and would like to learn how to be in better position during the game to help his team.

Beginner:
Players at this level are slower skaters even after many years of practising. They need to work on all areas of their game such as their skating, puck handling and shooting skills if they want to become a Low Rec player. Players in this level have fun and get a good work-out in a safer, non-competitive environment and should start with the shooting & power skating skills programs.

Policies, Cancellations and Refunds


Hockey Extreme reserves the right to decline the applicant enrollment in the camp/league/program and terminate participation in the camp/league/program, without refund for conduct by the participant detrimental to the best interest of the camp/league/program and other participants.

Cancellations made more than 6 weeks prior to the start of a camp/league/program, a full refund will be provided minus a $40.00 administration fee. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS for cancellations received less than 6 weeks prior to a scheduled start of a camp/league/program. If accompanied by a doctor’s note, a refund will be given only if your spot can be filled by another participant. The refund is pro-rated on the date the new participant starts the program minus a $40 administration fee.

NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS for sessions missed due to illness, holidays, competitions, injuries or management disputes. You are responsible for knowing the programs you registered for and if you show up or not, your hours at the camp/league/program are considered used. Hours are non-transferrable from one participant to another.
